The 404 uses a closed-box (infinite baffle) cabinet design rather than a ported enclosure, an approach generally associated with a tighter, more controlled bass character at the expense of some outright low-frequency extension compared with a reflex design of similar size. Each cabinet houses two 16.5cm low-resonance polypropylene cone drivers flanking a single 19mm aluminium dome tweeter, a layout intended to spread bass and midrange duties across two smaller drivers rather than relying on one larger unit. Connection is via a single pair of terminals per cabinet, so these are not set up for bi-wiring; standard single-run speaker cable is all that’s required. Being a standmount design, a pair of suitable speaker stands is recommended to bring the drivers up to seated ear height and to decouple the cabinets from the floor.

Important Owner’s Notes
These are genuinely used cabinets and this is reflected in the grade: there is visible surface wear, scuffing and marking to the veneer on the top and side panels of both cabinets, along with some marking to the grille cloth, as shown in our photographs. This is cosmetic in nature and has no bearing on function. Please review the photographs closely, as the condition grade for this pair reflects the cabinet wear specifically.
