Each channel is equipped with ten frequency bands, from 31.5Hz through to 16kHz, with generous ±15dB of boost and cut available at each band — noticeably more adjustment range than many later digitally-controlled equalizers, which often limit themselves to just ±10dB. The SS-115 uses genuinely long-throw slide controls for precise, repeatable settings, backed by LED level meters for each channel to help gauge signal level while adjusting. Around the back, the unit provides a straightforward line in/out loop alongside inputs and outputs for two separate tape decks, with switchable dubbing (Tape 1 to Tape 2) and source/tape monitoring, making it easy to equalize a signal on the way to a recording, or while monitoring playback from either deck.
