Key Features
Despite its accessible price point, the AM10 was built with some genuinely serious hi-fi credentials, foremost among them a fully discrete power amplifier stage and an oversized toroidal transformer, the type of component more usually found in higher-end separates than an entry-level integrated amp. The all-metal case was specifically designed with resonance control in mind, helping keep unwanted cabinet vibration out of the signal path. Cambridge Audio’s own engineers have noted that the AM10 delivers a genuine 35 Watts per channel, giving it a surprisingly authoritative and composed character that outperforms its modest asking price, and reviewers at the time praised its balance and control relative to other amplifiers in its class.
Practically, the AM10 offers five rear-mounted line inputs alongside a front-panel 3.5mm input for portable devices such as an MP3 player or phone, plus a dedicated built-in phono stage for moving-magnet cartridges, removing the need for a separate phono preamp when connecting a turntable directly. A neat front-panel display gives clear source and volume feedback, and the amplifier was supplied as standard with a full-function remote control, though this example does not include it.
