Description

Traditional Stereo Receiver with Useful Connectivity

The DRA-325R combines a stereo integrated amplifier and radio tuner in a single full-width component. Its rated output of 40 watts per channel into 8 ohms makes it well suited to efficient bookshelf and smaller floorstanding loudspeakers in a domestic listening room.

The built-in FM/MW tuner provides convenient access to traditional radio broadcasts without requiring a separate tuner. Station selection and the main operating information are shown on the clear front-panel display.

A dedicated moving-magnet phono input allows a compatible turntable to be connected without an external phono stage. Separate inputs are also provided for a CD player, auxiliary source and audio from video equipment, together with a tape recording and playback loop.

Bass, treble, balance and variable loudness controls allow the presentation to be adjusted for different loudspeakers and listening levels. The loudness control is particularly useful when listening quietly, compensating for the way the human ear perceives bass and treble at lower volumes.

Connections for two pairs of loudspeakers are provided, with front-panel switching allowing the required speaker set to be selected. A headphone socket is also available for private listening.

Important Owner’s Notes

This is a conventional analogue stereo receiver and does not include digital audio connections, Bluetooth, network streaming or DAB radio. A separate streamer or Bluetooth receiver can be connected through one of its line-level inputs if required.

The phono input is intended for moving-magnet cartridges. A low-output moving-coil cartridge would require a suitable external phono stage or step-up device.

No restoration or capacitor replacement is being claimed, and the previous service history is unknown. As this receiver dates from around 1989, its internal electrolytic capacitors should be assumed to be original unless evidence shows otherwise. It is currently working correctly following checking and testing by Andrew, although a precautionary service may be worth considering as part of longer-term ownership.
