Description
Automatic Convenience with Room to Grow
Press Start and the CS 429 moves the tonearm into position and lowers it onto the record. At the end of the side, the arm returns to its rest and the motor switches off. You can also position the arm manually using the cueing lever, while the automatic mechanism is disengaged from the tonearm and platter during playback.
The aluminium tonearm uses ball bearings, adjustable tracking force and spring-loaded anti-skating. A removable headshell makes cartridge changes more straightforward, while the supplied Ortofon 2M Red moving magnet cartridge features a replaceable elliptical stylus.
The belt-drive motor uses optical speed regulation and rubber isolation mounts. An MDF plinth, damped subchassis and elastomer inserts in the feet help limit unwanted vibration. The switchable built-in phono stage allows connection to a line-level input, or you can bypass it when using an amplifier’s MM phono input or a separate phono stage.
