It handles network streaming from online services and local storage, converts digital audio from external sources via its digital inputs, and provides a fully volume-controlled output over both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connections.
At the heart of the unit sit two ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC chips, one dedicated to each stereo channel. This dual-mono arrangement maximises channel separation and underpins the unit’s measured performance figures: THD+N of -120 dB (0.00009%) and a signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range of 128 dB. The circuit is fully balanced from the DAC chips through to the XLR outputs, which offer a meaningful performance advantage for downstream equipment that can accept a balanced signal. The USB audio interface is handled by the third-generation XMOS XU316 processor, supporting formats up to 32-bit/768 kHz PCM and native DSD512.
The key distinction between the Master Edition and the standard Gen 2 lies in the clock system and output stage. Where the standard model uses good-quality dual crystal oscillators, the Master Edition replaces these with a pair of Accusilicon femtosecond-grade oscillators — one aligned to the 44.1 kHz family used by most CD-sourced and streaming content, one to the 48 kHz family used in broadcast and some streaming formats. Femtosecond clocks are characterised by exceptionally low phase noise and jitter; in digital audio terms, a cleaner timing signal allows the DAC to operate with greater precision, and the practical effect is typically improved imaging stability and a quieter, more controlled presentation. Components of this grade are rarely found at this price point. The output stage is further refined through the use of Texas Instruments OPA1612 operational amplifiers in place of the OPA1642 found in the standard Gen 2 — notably, the OPA1612 is the same op-amp used in EverSolo’s considerably more expensive DMP-A8.
The most significant improvement the Gen 2 revision brings over the original Master Edition is the power supply. The previous model used a switching-mode supply; the Gen 2 replaces this with a single-transformer linear power supply operating at a noise floor below 40 µV. Linear supplies are generally preferred in audio applications for producing less high-frequency interference than switching designs, and the improvement here contributes to a noticeably cleaner background.
Digital input connectivity is comprehensive: USB-B for connection to a computer as an external DAC, coaxial S/PDIF, optical TOSLINK, and HDMI ARC — the last allowing TV audio to be routed directly into the unit, a practical feature for anyone using the same system for both music and television. Four digital outputs are provided: USB-A, coaxial, optical, and HDMI. The HDMI port carries audio only and supports multichannel output including DSD and up to 5.1 channels via dedicated DOH processing chips, making the unit compatible with home cinema receivers as well as stereo amplifiers.
The unit is Roon Ready certified and supports Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, and DLNA. Built-in streaming service integration covers Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Highresaudio, Presto Music, Radio Paradise, TuneIn, and others, accessible directly from the device’s own interface without the need for a separate control application, though EverSolo’s iOS and Android app is available and provides additional functionality including screen mirroring. EverSolo’s proprietary EOS audio engine bypasses Android’s default sample-rate conversion to allow bit-perfect output from third-party applications at their native resolution, including Apple Music at full hi-res quality. Supported formats include PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz, native DSD512, and full MQA decoding and rendering.
The front panel is dominated by a 6-inch LCD colour touchscreen handling all navigation, playback information, VU meters, and spectrum displays. To the right of the screen is a multi-function rotary knob encircled by an RGB dynamic gradient light ring, a visual feature specific to the Master Edition. The chassis is CNC-machined from aerospace-grade aluminium with integrated side fins for passive heat dissipation; the unit runs only mildly warm in normal use. The Master Edition is distinguished from the standard Gen 2 by its gold logo and badging. An M.2 NVMe SSD slot on the base, accessible without tools, accepts drives up to 4 TB for local music storage. Two USB 3.0 ports on the rear accommodate external drives or an optical CD-ROM drive for ripping. The Gen 2 also adds a 12 V trigger output for automatic power sequencing with compatible amplifiers, and Wake-on-LAN allowing the unit to be powered on remotely via the EverSolo Control app.
