JVC KD-V200 Stereo Cassette Deck — Grade B — Good | Dolby B/C, Metal Tape Capable | Checked & Tested

The JVC KD-V200 is a 2-head stereo cassette deck produced in the 1983–84 period, sitting a step above the entry-level KD-V100 in JVC’s range of the era. It added Music Scan and Dolby C noise reduction over the more basic model, and was notable at its price point for offering a set of features not always found on decks of similar cost. This example has been fully checked and tested by Andrew in our workshop.

Condition: Grade B — Good. Please refer to our photographs for a full assessment of cosmetic condition. Please note there are some marks present; the deck is otherwise in good working order and has been fully tested.

Description

Key Features

The KD-V200 uses a logic-controlled tape transport, giving light, soft-touch operation of all transport functions, backed by an LED tape-running indicator to show the current mode at a glance. JVC fitted its Metaperm head to the deck, engineered to give consistent results across normal, chrome, and metal tape formulations alike. Level monitoring is handled by 6-LED multi-peak indicators, one set per channel, and Music Scan allows quick location of the start of the next or preceding track. Noise reduction is provided by both Dolby B and Dolby C, with Dolby C giving a useful improvement in signal-to-noise performance, particularly in the higher frequencies. The deck also includes automatic input selection, slider-type input level controls, and separate microphone and headphone jacks, making it a flexible option for both recording and casual listening.
