A Compact Replacement Set for the Panasonic SC-BTX70
This is a useful package for someone retaining a working Panasonic SC-BTX70 main unit but needing its original speaker complement. The front pair and separate subwoofer form the system’s 2.1 layout, keeping the visible speakers compact while giving bass reproduction its own enclosure.
It may also suit an owner considering a suitably configured passive-speaker installation, provided amplification, filtering and connections are checked first. These are system speakers designed to work with matching electronics, so their compatibility deserves more attention than simply finding plugs that fit.
More Than a Simple Single-Driver Satellite
Each front speaker uses a two-way, three-driver bass-reflex layout, with a front woofer, an additional top woofer and a cone tweeter. Panasonic specifies bamboo material for the front woofer and tweeter. The upward-facing driver is part of the original acoustic arrangement, so the top of each cabinet should remain unobstructed.
The SB-HW560 uses Panasonic’s Kelton-type bass enclosure, combining a driven woofer with a larger passive radiator. A passive radiator moves in response to pressure within the enclosure rather than having its own voice coil. It assists the bass loading of the cabinet; it does not provide amplification.

The wattage figures above are speaker input ratings, not amplifier output. The published frequency ranges use −10dB limits and should not be compared directly with tighter ±3dB response specifications.
Important Amplifier and Connection Requirements
All three cabinets are passive. In particular, the subwoofer requires an amplified bass feed: a normal RCA “SUB OUT” or LFE socket on an AV receiver cannot drive it directly. The matching Panasonic main unit supplies the required amplification and signal processing.
Use with other equipment requires appropriate 6Ω-capable amplification, a correctly filtered subwoofer channel and suitable high-pass filtering for the front pair. Panasonic’s original speaker wiring and main-unit connectors should also be checked against the intended installation. Please contact us by phone or email if you need help confirming compatibility before purchase.
Supply is limited to the two front speakers and subwoofer. No playback electronics, amplifier or additional accessories are being included in this listing.
