Key Features
The TC-FX3 uses a two-head design with separate record/playback and erase heads, driven by a belt-driven single-capstan transport mechanism powered by two motors. Tape type selection allows the deck to be correctly matched to normal, chrome (CrO2), and metal cassette formulations, ensuring the correct bias and equalisation are applied for whichever tape is loaded. Dolby B noise reduction is fitted, reducing tape hiss on recordings made on the deck by as much as 10dB at the highest frequencies. Peak-reading digital level meters give a clear indication of recording levels, and soft-touch controls handle transport functions. Two microphone inputs are provided for live recording direct to tape, alongside a front-panel headphone jack for private monitoring.

Important Owner’s Notes
This cassette deck is now over 40 years old. The drive belt is a wearing part on any belt-driven transport of this age and, if not recently renewed, is worth replacing as routine maintenance. The rubber pinch roller and tape head are also worth having checked periodically, as both can affect playback quality as they age; we’re happy to advise further if useful.
